Finally, I can reveal it! After months of having to keep quiet, I can now shout it from the rooftops: I had the honor of designing the 2024 December Stamps for PostNL! What an incredibly fun assignment this was. On November 4th, three stamps were quietly shown in the PostNL webshop as a sneak preview. From that moment on, you could already pre-order the December stamp sheets online. Starting November 18th, the December Stamps will be available in stores, all over the Netherlands.
Here's what PostNL says about the December Stamps…
'Fresh, sleek, clear, warm, and with a touch of humor. Marieke Ruts' illustrations, also known as Mevrouw Emmer, are instantly recognizable. For the December stamps, she created 10 scenes, with a robin in each drawing, the bird that always inspires hope.'
And as stubborn as dachshund Frits is, the four-legged friend naturally wiggled his way in and managed to conquer a spot in the designs. Each stamp stands alone, but together they form one fresh and cheerful Christmas story.

The 2024 postal rates
A sheet of 20 December stamps costs €21.20 this year. You can already reserve them. After that, the stamps will be available for purchase from November 18th at post offices, parcel points, stamp sales points, or via postnl.nl. You can use the December stamps for mail up to 50 grams with a minimum size of 14 x 9 cm within the Netherlands. For a card abroad, you need 2 stamps. The December stamp rate is valid until January 4, 2025. After that, the December stamp remains valid if additional postage is added to meet the then current rate.
